Come one, come all! Greyfest is nearly upon us! This wonderful event, dedicated to celebrating, remembering and partying with the best hounds out there, will be held on Saturday June, 18th 2015 at the same location as last year - Snail Lake Pavillion in Shoreview which features large covered areas with 34 picnic tables, and plenty of outside space to bring your own blanket too!
From 11am to 3pm, we will host a bevy of food and activities all dedicated to making this a greyt greyhound get together.
Greyfest also helps GPA MN raise the funds needed to continue our important work of finding forever homes for the retired racers out there. So grab your kids (the two and four legged), call your friends, bring a camera and join us for the greyt-est summer day!
Please don’t forget… Come rain, come sun, come 90 degree days preceded by frost, Greyfest will go on so don’t forget umbrellas, lawn chairs, sunscreen (and maybe even a snow shovel this year!)
Admission is free (so bring some human friends with you!).
The hounds need to be on leashes (so don’t forget those!).
If you've been to greyfest before you know that the event cannot run itself. We need a number of volunteers to help us during shifts throughout the day. If you would like to help with a shift, please contact Lori at firstname.lastname@example.org. We greytly appreciate your support!
Don't miss out on the exclusive 20th Anniversary Greyfest T-Shirt, available at the GPA Merch Table at Greyfest.
Special thanks to Aimee Finley for our lovely 2016 T-shirt design!
Artist's mock-up. Final shirt may vary slightly.
Speed Alley (11:00am - 1:00pm) *weather permitting*
Speed Alley is a fully-fenced, straight-line run for your hound. It’s a safe place where your hound can go and show everyone how they earned the nickname of “45 mile per hour Couch Potatoes.” (Or, as they are lovingly called in some homes, “45 mile per hour Couch Thieves”) And, of course, the radar gun will be there to give you the exact mph of your hound!
Cost for Speed Alley:
$5 per hound per run (run only, no photo)
$10 run plus photo (high-quality digital file)
Fastest 3 hounds down Speed Alley will receive a trophy!
100% of proceeds from Speed Alley will be donated to GPA MN!
1:00pm Top Dog Hot Dog Tournament 64 entrants will be accepted into the hot-doggiest tournament in town! Entrance fee is $5 and the 1st and 2nd place hounds walk (or run) home with a sweet prize -- $50 and $25 cash! Stop by the games area to secure your bracket position when you arrive at Greyfest.
12:00 noon Musical Squares Remember all the fun you had playing Musical Chairs? Join us for a similar game involving your greyhound and a carpet square. When the music plays, walk around the circle with your hound's leash in one hand and a carpet square in the other. As soon as the music stops, get your hound to sit on the carpet square. But be quick about it! The last hound to sit will be OUT!
Group Roo You won't believe your ears when we get all the hounds wound up and rooing for a Group Roo.
