Come one, come all! Greyfest 2013 (our Greyt Minnesota Get Together) is nearly upon us! This wonderful event, dedicated to celebrating, remembering and partying with the best hounds out there, will be held on Saturday June, 8th at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. From 10am to 4pm, we will host a bevy of food, activities, games and vendors all dedicated to making this special get together the greyt-est one yet!
Greyfest also helps GPA MN raise the funds needed to continue our important work of finding forever homes for the retired racers out there. So grab your kids (the two and four legged), call your friends, bring a camera and join us for the greyt-est summer day! Please don’t forget… Come rain, come sun, come 90 degree days preceded by frost, Greyfest will go on so don’t forget umbrellas, lawn chairs, sunscreen (and maybe even a snow shovel this year!) Admission is free (so bring some human friends with you!). The hounds need to be on leashes (so don’t forget those!). The Raffle (Drawing at 3:00pm)
All raffle tickets are $1 and you use those tickets for a chance to win any of the fabulous items within the raffle. The raffle drawing will take place at 3pm.

Every year the Greyfest raffle helps us to raise a great deal of funds for our cause. All of the items in the raffle are donated by individuals and organizations across MN and the US. We are grateful to all of our donors for the support they provide for this wonderful part of our event.
Want to help support Greyfest? Consider donating a basket for the raffle! Putting together a Greyfest raffle basket is such an easy way to give back to the organization and have fun doing it. Think of this as chance to consider how much love and happiness your hound(s) bring to your life. Gather up all that love and put it into a basket filled with goodies to help other hounds find their forever home! Your basket can be made up of anything – could be hound things, maybe a wine party basket, game night goodies, or a local sports team themed collection. If it’s something you enjoy, chances are others will be interested in it as well. If putting together a basket isn’t your thing, how about donating a gift certificate for your favorite restaurant, book store or spa? The sky’s the limit! In order to be a lucky raffle winner, you must either be present for the drawing at 3:00pm or designate someone who can pick up your winnings in your absence.
Speed Alley (10:30am - 1:00pm)
We are proud to report that Speed Alley is back, bigger and better! The hounds who proved their mettle in Speed Alley 2012 all said one thing: we want more! To honor their request, Speed Alley will be even bigger this year, letting our hounds stretch their legs and strut their stuff for an even longer jaunt! Speed Alley is a straight-line run for your hound. We fence it together so the hounds are free to run and not worry their humans about where they might disappear to. It’s a safe place where your hound can go and show everyone how they earned the nickname of “45 mile per hour Couch Potatoes.” (Or, as they are lovingly called in some homes, “45 mile per hour Couch Thieves”) And, of course, the radar gun will be there to give you the exact mph of your hound! Cost for Speed Alley: $3 per hound per run (run only, no photo) $10 run plus photo (high-quality digital file) Speed Alley Photos
Kristy of Kristy Bee Photography will be taking pictures of the hounds running down Speed Alley. These photos are a rare opportunity for you to capture your hound's speed and grace! If you would like a photo of your hound, be sure to pay before your hound runs. High-quality digital images will be emailed to you after the event.
100% of proceeds from the sale of Speed Alley photos will be donated to GPA MN!

Michelle Hartman Photography will be on-site at Greyfest this year and she will be offering portrait packages of your lovable Greyhound and optionally the human family members, too! Session times can be reserved when you arrive at Greyfest, so there’s no standing in lines - your time is reserved just for you! Stop by the photo studio area to reserve your time as soon as you arrive at Greyfest. Special print packages offered at Greyfest:
Package A: Session and (2) 5x7 or 8x10 prints, for $40 Package B: Session and (3) 5x7 or 8x10 prints, for $60 Package C: Session and (4) 5x7 or 8x10 prints, for $80 Package D: Session, a 16x20 canvas, and (2) 5x7 or 8x10 prints, $175 Images chosen can be one pose or a variety. 20% of the order proceeds from sessions at Greyfest will be donated to GPA MN!

Rusty Taco
This year concessions will be available from Rusty Taco, offering a variety of delicious food options. With offerings like “achiote marinated shredded pork, topped with pineapple, onion and cilantro” and “chipotle black beans topped with pico de gallo, cotija cheese, cilantro and toasted pumpkin seeds” there is only one question: how do you say DELICIOUSLY AMAZING in greyhound? Rusty Taco will be offering their mouth-watering fare at this year’s Greyfest. With locations in both Minneapolis and Saint Paul, they will be sending their famos food-truck to the State Fair Grounds. Greyhounds + a Beautiful June Day + Tacos = A Greyfest you can’t miss! |

10:00am - 1:00pm Bobbing for Hot Dogs How many can your hound get in 15 seconds? 11:00 am Musical Squares Remember all the fun you had playing Musical Chairs? Join us for a similar game involving your greyhound and a carpet square. When the music plays, walk around the circle with your hound's leash in one hand and a carpet square in the other. As soon as the music stops, get your hound to sit on the carpet square. But be quick about it! The last hound to sit will be OUT! |

Contests (1:30pm)
Contests will take place in the stage area. We will judge each category separately and winners will receive a delicious prize!
Best Twins - Find your hound's closest look-alike "twin" and see whether your hound and their twin are identical enough to convince the judges! Best Costume - Bring out their dress-up best for this one! We can't wait to see your hound dressed as something creative and fun. Best Hound Talent - Can your hound sing a some convincing blues? Or have they mastered a silly combination of moves? Show off your hound's secret talent for this contest! Longest "Sit Stay" - Can your hound sit? Let's see which hound can sit the longest with the "Sit Stay" contest. Fastest Hounds - We will award the Speed Alley "Fastest Hounds" trophies at the conclusion of the contests. Make sure to hit the alley with your hound while it's open! |
Do you and your hound(s) need a place to stay before or after Greyfest?
