Greyfest

25th Annual Greyfest

Greyfest No Year.jpgSaturday, June 19, 2021
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Snail Lake Regional Park Pavilion
4191 Snail Lake Blvd
Shoreview, MN 55126

Greyfest is a wonderful event dedicated to celebrating, remembering and partying with the best hounds out there! We will be in the location we've used for several years in the past, Snail Lake Pavilion in Shoreview, which features large covered areas with picnic tables, and plenty of outside space to bring your own blanket.

From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. we will have food, beer, and will host a bevy of activities all dedicated to making this a greyt greyhound get-together.

Greyfest also helps GPA MN raise the funds necessary to continue our important work of finding forever homes for retired racers. So, grab your kids, both two-legged and four-legged, call your friends, bring a camera, and join us for a greyt summer day. Admission is free!

Greyfest goes on, rain or shine, 90 degrees or 40 degrees, so please remember umbrellas, sunscreen, jackets, sweatshirts,  lawn chairs, or whatever you need for whatever our lovely Minnesota weather brings!

This is an event at which there will be 75-100 greyhounds. Large and medium breed dogs other than greyhounds are welcome, but NO SMALL DOGS, PLEASE! Remember, not all greyhounds are small-dog friendly.
All dogs must be leashed.
We recommend masks for humans, except when eating.

Activities

Speed Alley (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) *weather permitting*Speed Alley 2012 - Pearl 3.jpg

Speed Alley is a fully-fenced, straight-line run for your hound. It is a safe place where your hound can go and show everyone how they earned the nickname of "45 mile per hour Couch Potatoes." Of course, the radar gun will be there to give you the exact MPH of your hound!

Cost for Speed Alley:
$5 per hound per run (run only, no photo)
$10 per hound per run (high-quality digital photo file)
Fastest 3 hounds down Speed Alley will receive a trophy!

100% of the proceeds from Speed Alley will be donated to GPA MN!!

Games

We will likely have fewer "greyhound games" and contests in this age of social distancing, but we will definitely have the ever-popular Bobbing for Hot Dogs 2.jpgbobbing for hot dogs for the hounds, along with the  wine toss for adults, and the pop toss for the two-legged kids.

Merchandise

There will be GPA and greyhound merchandise for sale, as usual. The 2021 Greyfest t-shirt is available to order from the GPA store on threadless.com, you choose your shirt style, size, and color and it will be made and shipped directly to you to wear to the picnic. The shirt must be ordered in advance, it will not be for sale at Greyfest. You should plan on your order taking at least 10 days to arrive, so order early. Here's the design, and some samples of the various shirt styles available. You can even get them in kids and baby sizes!

Greyhound Garage Sale

Along with the merchandise table we'll have a selection of gently used items that have been donated to GPA, including beds, food bowls, toys, collars, etc.

Nose Work Demonstration

Christie Vereide has volunteered to give a demonstration of her greys doing canine nose work, and to give you the opportunity to try it with your own dogs. She'll start at 11:30 and continue throughout the rest of the day.

Volunteers

If you've been to greyfest before, you know that this event cannot run itself. We need a number of volunteers to help us by taking shifts to help with various activities  throughout the day. If you would like to help, please contact our greyfest coordinators at volunteer@gpa-mn.org. Any help you can provide to make this a greyt day is appreciated!
